The Lucky Day

To celebrate Greek Independence Day on March 25th, Billy must wear a traditional costume consisting of pom-pom shoes and frilly skirt. He does not want to be seen in public like that! But when his parents explain the history behind this important day, Billy realizes just how lucky he is to march in a parade in his foustanella! First published to honor the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821, The Lucky Day tells kids the story of Greece’s independence clearly and colorfully and is reflective of common events celebrated by Greeks and Hellenic friends around the world.
